A "Treated" jam from HBB

Part of my life I have spent in England, and over there, instead of the mass of guitars and drums possessed by every three or four kids in the US, half the population and their mothers own turntables. Constantly have I heard a barrage of hip hop, dubstep and drum n' bass mixes, most of which is sampled from original records by groups who usually display no relevance to the genre at hand.

In that spirit, I made something of a 'hip hop' sequence from the preceding 'Hurt Bird Bath' jam. Don't get me wrong though, an MC couldn't flow directly over these raw samples. You'd have to throw a beat in there, and maybe something else for some extra fuzz, but the principle is there.

If your interested in messing around with this yourself, here is a zip file with all of the 'heard' samples I took. I don't know the programs for PC too well, but for a Mac I use TwistedWave, which works great.

At the break of 2008, I was in the midst of a fall in my life from a cloud so high that my ass damn near fell off when I hit the ground. In the midst of this strange phase of life I created UM Podcast in high hopes of splitting up the entire podcast selection available from umphreys.com. Today my life is far from what it once was, but that's not what you all came to read about. I only point this out, because UM Podcast can serve as a checkpoint in my life; An accomplishment that has come from hours of tedious work. Now with the podcast archives virtually complete (only two more to go as of November 4th, 2008), I declare UM Podcast an actual podcast, with a real RSS feed available for subscription.

I thoroughly look forward to an exciting future of podcasting analysis', creations, inspirations, observations and comments revolving around three elements in descending order of importance relevant to this blog: Umphrey's McGee, music in general, and the surrounding world.

So, as an entrepreneur, a musician, a web-designer, an archivist, and a hardcore fan of Umphrey's McGee, I offer you my best foot forward as a podcaster!
